Atlanta’s Grady Health System is an internationally recognized teaching hospital staffed exclusively by doctors from the Emory University and Morehouse schools of medicine. Its mission is twofold: maintain its historical commitment to the underserved of Fulton and DeKalb counties, while also providing care for residents of metro Atlanta and Georgia. In 2008, after years of fiscal mismanagement, Grady Health System was on the brink of closing. Through generous donations and a change in leadership, the hospital was set on a transformational path.

Grady is transforming itself into a world-class healthcare system.

Everywhere you look, Grady is alive with activity. There’s a spirit of rebirth, renewal and transformation – a positive change affecting not only Grady itself, but also the patients and region we serve. Today, with the generous help of an ever-widening host of friends, supporters and donors, Grady continues to strengthen its position on the leading edge of healthcare.

In 2009, a $20 million gift from the Marcus Foundation had an immense impact on Grady’s ability to deliver advanced medical care to stroke and trauma patients. The grant established the Marcus Stroke and Neuroscience Center, a new, dedicated Neuro Intensive Care facility for acute neurological emergencies….
